Kids activities for this summer!

Kids love getting messy and involved in baking, especially if it involves sweet treats! Our family homes at Campion Point have been finished to the highest standard and the contemporary kitchens are fitted with rigid built SieMatic kitchens, easy to wipe Corian worktops and stainless steel AEG ovens, perfect for baking!
Try out this recipe* for rainbow cookies, you’ll need:
- 175g softened butter
- 50g golden caster sugar
- 50g icing sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 300g plain flour
- zest and juice 1 orange
- 140g icing sugar
- sprinkles
Combine the butter, sugars, egg yolks and vanilla until creamy, then mix in the flour in and stir in the orange zest. Roll the dough into walnut-size balls and sit on baking sheets. Bake for 15 mins until golden, then leave to cool.
For the icing, mix the icing sugar with some orange juice and dip each biscuit half into the icing, then straight into the sprinkles. Delicious!

Wildlife Park
Our new 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes at Rosebay are located in the beautiful Peak District town of Chapel-en-le-Frith. There are many walking, cycling and outdoor opportunities nearby not to mention the Chestnut Centre Otter, Owl & Wildlife Park! This is a great day out for the kids and they can even take part in a ‘keeper experience day’ to learn more about what it’s like to take care of their favourite animals. There’s also a ‘follow the keeper tour’, where you can see all the different animals being fed, including Scottish wildcats, pine martens and Asian short clawed otters!
Painting
A great way to keep the kids entertained for a few hours is to let them get creative doing some painting. No paint brushes in the house? Don’t worry! Try cutting some potatoes into shapes to use as stamps – carrots and corn work really well too! The kids are sure to find it funny, it might even encourage them to try some more veg (before it has paint on of course!) Finger painting is another fun activity, just keep some wipes handy so you don’t find any pesky finger prints on your new sofa!
Clay Modelling
Clay modelling will keep the kids quiet for a while as they use their imagination and develop their motor skills to create whatever they like, whether its figurines, jewellery, a key ring, or even a copy of an artefact. Cheap coloured and regular clay can be found in most craft shops, allowing your little ones to mould and paint their sculptures. Plus, clay won’t break the bank this summer!
Canal Bike Ride
Our new homes at Southbeck in Salterforth are located just a short stroll from the picturesque Leeds and Liverpool canal footpaths. Why not take a look at the narrowboat moorings then cycle along the Lancashire Cycleway? There’s some wonderful views of the surrounding hills and fells, pack a picnic and make a day of it, you could even take some things you baked earlier in the week!
Scrapbook
Just moved into your new home? Creating a scrapbook is a great way to help your kids settle into their new surroundings. Get the kids involved in taking pictures of your new home and the places you visit, scraps of wallpaper and paint samples can be added and will be great for everyone to look back on in years to come! The kids will love sticking in photos, drawing pictures and making the scrapbook their own to fill up with years of memories.
Book Club Characters
What better way to get to know your new area by pretending to be characters from your kids favourite book and recreating some of the scenes! This will really help everyone settle in and feel at home. The Gruffalo is a great one to try out in the woods and you might even spot some of the animals from the book! The Forestry Commission have a Gruffalo Spotter app which involves following clues along their interactive trail to track down characters from the story.
