Benefits: Pension contributions are a minimum of 5.0% (employee) and 6.0% (employer). Seddon Homes will match contributions to a maximum of 7.5%. 4 times salary for death in service. Health care. 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. Car allowance

Hours: 08.00 – 16.30 Mon – Fri. (60 min lunch) 37.5 Hours a week

The Role

As part of our retirement planning, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Land Estimator / Estimator to join our growing housing business in Birchwood, Warrington. The principle purpose of the role is to prepare budget costs and financial appraisals for bids through to acquisition/pre start. These are varied and deadline driven, so excellent prioritisation and organisation skills are essential. You should be self-motivated and pro-active with the ability to meet strict deadlines. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and are a confident negotiator.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing development costs for housing sites from drawings and site visits for land bids
  • Undertaking full financial appraisals for land bids
  • Critiquing / value engineering civil and structural engineering solutions
  • Monitoring cost changes on live land appraisals and updating cost reports from bid to aquisition/pre start
  • Preparing standard rates and budgets for use in estimating
  • Inputting and maintaining accurate records on both data bases and spreadsheets
  • Build and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external; including internal Technical, Commercial, and Sales departments, and also external consultants and supply chains.
  • Preparation of detailed information packs etc for meetings
  • Monitor prelim budgets, along with construction, sales/marketing and land budgets

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of land appraisals / estimating or quantity surveying achieved within a similar environment, together with relevant academic and / or professional qualifications (HND or degree level).  Preference will be given to those familiar with the role and with a good knowledge of groundworks/civils.They should have a good knowledge of housebuilding and be able to work with the technical and commercial teams, and also outside consultants, to put together a forecast cost budget for housing sites, identifying any risks and opportunitiesThey will be highly organised, familiar with coordinating multiple applications simultaneously and thrive on working to deadlines

    Good communication, proficient with IT and a high attention to detail are skills they will possess, in addition to being self motivated,  positive and a team player

    A full driving licence is essential.
