Seddon new build homes – perfect for a summer party

Summer drinks party

Summer is officially here, and whilst it may be wetter than we’d like at this time of the year, it gives you the perfect excuse to show off your new home by bringing the party inside for a summer party.

Our new homes will make you the envy of all your friends. Many of our homes are open plan, and our fabulous Belmont homes overlook the water making them the perfect setting for a summer soirée.

With this in mind, we’ve put together the ultimate checklist for those looking to party the night away this summer come hail, rain or shine.

1. Invites

Let’s start with the obvious. The beauty of an indoor summer party is that you are guaranteed it won’t be rained off. One thing to remember is that everyone will be inside your new home, and that means limited space. Although all our homes come with generous living spaces, you can only fit so many people in before the party is a bust. Invites offer the perfect workaround. Send out your invites a couple of weeks before your party so that people have time to respond, and more importantly so that you have time to prepare. Why not save yourself some time and have a bit of fun by creating your own evite.

2. Decide on a theme

Whether you opt for Hawaiian shirts and flower necklaces, black tie or just casual, pick a theme and let your guests know well in advance. Nobody likes turning up to a party and sticking out like a sore thumb.

3. Decoration

You’ve decided on the theme and you know you’re going to look the part, now it’s time to make your new home match. It’s summer so bright colours are your best friend. Go for bright yellows, hot pinks and pastel colours to bring the summer vibe inside. Flowers are another great way to keep that summer feeling alive whilst bringing a bit of the outside inside. They also have the added benefit of smelling great too.

If you’re struggling for some inspiration, check out @PartyDelights on Pinterest, they’ve got some amazing ideas to suit any theme you choose.

4. Food and drink

This is the business end of any party, get this wrong and it could spell disaster. Let’s start with food. Many of our homes come ready with contemporary SieMatic kitchens whilst the properties that are part of our Crofton development come with NEFF ‘Slide & Hide’ ovens making food prep a breeze.

If your party isn’t going to be a sit-down affair, then finger food is the way to go.

Nothing beats the perfect burger, except maybe hot dogs. Sandwiches and cakes are always safe options that go down a treat. Make sure you also have a few vegetarian options available too so that all dietary bases are covered.

When it comes to drinks, the world is your oyster. Most people love to have a good drink at a house party, so make sure you’re stocked up. Punch bowls and pre-mixed cocktail pitchers can all be prepared well in advance leaving you with more time to dance the night away. @apartment_bartender‘s Instagram account has some amazing cocktail recipes if you’re looking to push the boat out and really impress your guests.

5. Get help

We have no doubt that you are perfectly capable of getting everything ready all by yourself, but why put yourself through the stress if you don’t have to? After all, a problem shared is a problem halved. Even if it’s just bringing a plate of something tasty, asking your friends and family to chip in will make all the difference.

If you’re feeling rich you could go one step further and hire a catering company, that way you get to enjoy the party as much as your guests without worrying about prepping food and keeping glasses topped up.

6. Activities

Activities aren’t for everyone, but you should have a couple lined up in case it takes a while for the party to get going. One idea that we love that’s suitable for adult and child-friendly parties is a piñata. Check out Partyrama’s great selection of piñatas here. If you’re hosting an ‘adults only’ party then drinking games are always a good option. Here are 14 games for you and your friends to try that are guaranteed to bring you some laughs.

7. Capture the moments

What good is hosting the best party ever if you don’t fully remember it? Partying in your new home is all about making memories, and whether it’s your iPhone or tablet, make sure you take lots pictures. One idea you could try out is leaving disposable cameras dotted around your home, that way you get to capture the memories and have an extra surprise when you get the pictures developed.

So there we have it, our top tips to help you host your perfect summer party inside your new home. Stick to these 7 basic rules and you’ll have a great time!
