Lifelong Tigers fans scoop season ticket prize
Posted on February 15th, 2012Lifelong Castleford Tigers fans Denise and Alan Balfe are ‘over the moon’ after winning a family season ticket in a prize draw run by new homes developer Seddon Homes.
The couple entered the draw whilst visiting the show home at Seddon’s Silkstone development at Fryston.
They later learned that they had won the season ticket worth £600 and received their prize at the first game of the new season.
The couple have travelled the globe to follow the fortunes of the Tigers, even flying to Australia to watch the team compete.
“We couldn’t believe it when we learned we had won the ticket, “ said Denise, who is retired and lives with husband Alan, a Royal Mail worker, at their home in Bailey Close, Pontefract.
“We will make full use of the season ticket and are really looking forward to enjoying all the coming matches.
“We really enjoyed visiting the Silkstone development. The homes are really lovely, we were very impressed,” added Denise, whose father Herbert Burrows, a pit worker, played for rugby teams in the Castleford area for many years.
Denis Maddock, sales and marketing director for Seddon Homes, said: “Castleford has a long tradition of rugby league and we know there is a great passion for the game here.
“As a company we always try to build positive links with the communities in which we have developments and linking up with the much loved Tigers is an ideal way of doing this in Castleford.
“Previously, we have sponsored a Tigers match and are currently working with the Castleford Panthers as we are sponsoring their latest kit.”
Silkstone is located in a rural location in Fryston, close to Fairburn Ings nature reserve and offers a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
It is close to good road links and within easy reach of Castleford, Pontefract and Leeds.

It is also ideal for local people with growing families seeking to upgrade to more spacious homes.
A family-owned firm, Seddon has recently started developments in Yorkshire, though it has long-standing operating bases at Normanton and York. Silkstone is its fourth new homes development in the region.
