Why buy a new home near Skipton?
Posted on April 24th, 2019Our new homes development, Belvedere is set in close proximity to the town of Skipton. And what could be better than buying a new home near Skipton? Whether you stop by the canal, partake in the available sports activities, or enjoy the utterly gorgeous historical landmarks, you’ll barely be scratching the surface of this bustling market town.
For the great atmosphere
It’s the people that truly make a place, and with Skipton, the local community is one of its top selling points. The small town won the title of Best Place to Live in Britain (2014) as well as Most Courteous Town (2016). What’s more, 2017 statistics from the National Office of Statistics revealed that the residents of Skipton were also Britain’s Happiest that year! Clearly, the town has a certain charm about it that simply makes you feel good.
For the history
As we mentioned, Skipton has its fair share of heritage sites. The most notable of these is the infamous Skipton Castle which has survived in the town for over 900 years. You can stop by to admire the fortress any day of the week between 10am and 5pm (11am to 5pm on Sundays), enjoy a drink and a bite to eat in the nearby café, and have a browse in the on-site shop. This is ideal for history fans or family days out in the sun.
For the sports
If you can’t keep still for more than a minute, then you’ll be right at home in Skipton. There’s Skipton Cricket Club, Cycling Club and Rugby Club, plus a plethora of other, smaller clubs for activities such as swimming, angling and tennis. If you love to dance, then you’ll love the Northern Dance Centre, Yorkshire’s longest established dancing school. Though this is more so for children, they do offer adult classes as well as Pilates.
For the nature
Skipton’s natural features are truly a sight to behold. Firstly, you have the Skipton Castle Woods. This is the perfect place to take the kids for a fun few hours – especially after you’ve been to visit Skipton Castle! You could also take a trip to Aireville Park and take advantage of over 20 acres of parkland, complete with an 18-hole golf course, a football pitch, skate park, and so much more. And if you don’t want to stay in one place for too long, then there are numerous walking routes for you to make the most of the gorgeous scenery. The Millennium Walk and Point of Interest Walk both come highly recommended.
For the leisure
Like any town, Skipton has many different shops, eateries and interesting venues. The town centre gives you access to anything and everything you may need, and the pubs, bars and restaurants that are dotted around provide plenty of variety for all tastes.
When you want to sit back and relax, you can enjoy a film at the Plaza Cinema, or perhaps a show at either of the two theatres. Sit back with a book at the Skipton Library or gain your sea legs with a canal cruise. And let’s not forget the incredibly popular Skipton Market, held every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and voted the UK’s Best Small Outdoor Market in 2017.
For the easy access
If for whatever reason you can’t find something to do, then the market town is excellently connected to nearby towns and cities. You can take the train to Leeds, Carlisle, Morecambe and Bradford, and there is a regular bus route to take you in and out of Skipton from various locations.
