New homes at the right price in a good location continue to sell fast, finds Seddon Homes
Posted on March 15th, 2011Well built new homes that are priced realistically and in the right location are continuing to sell quickly despite the tough economic climate, says top developer Seddon Homes.
Two properties sold within days of an announcement that the company was starting a new development at Lightcliffe, near Halifax, and, at a different Seddon development, again two properties sold within days of being released to the market last month.
“It’s an old adage, but it remains true that in all economic climates, there will always be demand for good specification properties at a realistic price in a sought-after location,” said Denis Maddock, sales and marketing director with Seddon Homes.
“In Ryecroft, two homes were reserved off-plan before we’d even started marketing the development. “That’s a significant percentage when you consider there are only 13 homes being built in all there,” he added.
Called Ryecroft, the development will comprise detached homes, all stone-built in keeping with the surrounding locality, each with five spacious bedrooms and finished to a high specification. Some have integral garages, others detached garages. They will all have private driveways with spacious gardens and will be built within a secure environment off the highly regarded Wakefield Road area.
“We do our homework, listen to customer’s needs and assess local market demand before starting work on any development. We believe this is why Ryecroft has attracted such interest,” said Denis. “In addition, Ryecroft is close to rural country scenes, while also being within easy distance of major road networks to the business hubs of Halifax, Leeds and beyond. It is perfectly placed.”
Further testimony to the demand for high end properties in good locations, despite the economic downturn, has come from a Seddon development in Macclesfield, Cheshire. Two properties also sold there within days of their release last month, with values heading towards £500,000.
Denis added: “Again, this shows that properties of a high specification in the right location are still selling.”
Yorkshire is a relatively new area for the Cheshire company, which has a long-standing reputation west of the Pennines for building high specification, high quality homes.
A third Seddon Homes venture in Yorkshire in 2011 will be Silkstone in Castleford, a development of three and four bedroom properties to be released for sale in late March.
