In House Property Lawyer

Location: Stoke on Trent with potential flexibility to work some days in our Birchwood, Warrington offices

Benefits: Pension contributions are a minimum of 5.0% (employee) and 6.0% (employer). Seddon Homes will match contributions to a maximum of 7.5%. 4 times salary for death in service. Health care. 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.

Hours: Mon – Fri 08.00 – 16.30; (60 mins Lunch), 37.5 h/pw

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Property Lawyer to join our growing housing business in our Stoke Office. The principle
purpose of the role is to deal with property acquisitions for purpose of acquiring land for development and / or assist head of
department in such matters . You should be self-motivated and pro-active, with the ability to meet strict deadlines. It is essential that
you are a qualified solicitor, have a property background either from private practice or in-house, the role can be adapted depending
on experience .

 

Key Responsibilities Include

• Preparation of heads of terms
• Preparation / approval of contract / option / pre-emption agreement / promotion agreement / overage based on the heads of  terms
• Preparation of report on title
• Oversee request for searches
• Raise title enquiries before contract
• Attend any meetings that are required for the progress of the matter
• Attend site visits for purpose of checking development site
• Draft section 106 agreements
• Complete SDLT documentation and registration applications
• Assist others in the department
• Prepare site set up documentation
• Negotiate infrastructure agreements

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will want to focus on development work and have effective oral and written communication skills.
The candidate should have a pleasant and pro-active manner, be risk-management focussed, have good analytical skills and the
ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
They will be highly organised, familiar with co-ordinating multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive on working to deadlines.
The candidate should be proficient with IT (Microsoft packages, Excel etc.) and have a good attention to detail, in addition to being
self-motivated, customer focussed, target driven, positive and a team player.
A full driving licence is essential.
